The aim of this app is to provide detailed information on commercial marine species of Madeira, together with fishes, crustaceans, and molluscs.
It includes a brief description of each species, its biology and habitat, seasonality and conservation status, in addition to gastronomic and dietary data. Common names are additionally offered in a number of languages (DE, DK, EN, ES, FI, FR, NL, PT and RU).
Information was collected from the scientific literature, FishBase, SeaLifeBase, FAO species identification guides, and Direcção Regional de Pescas of Madeira, amongst different sources. A full bibliography is offered. Current scientific names of species and classification adopted the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS).
